KARDS is a turn-based collectible card strategy game based on World War II. Instead of controlling individual soldiers on a conventional battlefield, players build decks containing military units, orders, and supporting cards, then use them in matches against another player or AI. There is no single fictional story or protagonist. Historical themes, equipment, nations, and campaigns provide the setting, while each match develops according to the cards played and tactical decisions made by both sides.
Nations and Deck Building
Decks are built around one of five main nations: Britain, Germany, Japan, the Soviet Union, or the United States. Each has cards designed around different military strengths, and one additional nation can be included as an ally. A standard deck contains a headquarters and cards representing infantry, tanks, artillery, aircraft, orders, and other battlefield effects. Choosing a main nation and ally allows different strategies to be combined within the same deck.
How Battles Work
Every turn provides Kredits, which are spent both to deploy cards and to operate units already on the battlefield. The Frontline is especially important because controlling it allows units to pressure the enemy Support Line and attack the opposing headquarters more directly. During a match, players can:
· deploy infantry, tanks, artillery, and aircraft;
· move units toward the Frontline;
· attack enemy units or headquarters;
· play Orders and other support cards;
· manage Kredits between deployment and actions;
· protect important units in the Support Line;
· combine cards to create offensive or defensive strategies.
Destroying the enemy headquarters is the main objective of a standard battle.
KARDS does not use traditional numbered levels. Progression is divided between multiplayer ranking, card collection, missions, achievements, training, Draft, and single-player campaigns. Starter Campaigns introduce the five major nations and reward a complete 40-card deck for each nation after completion. Theaters of War provides handcrafted scenarios based on World War II campaigns and battles, including Tunisia and El Alamein.
Progression and Strategy
Playing effectively requires more than placing the strongest available card. Kredits must be reserved for movement and attacks, while control of the Frontline affects which units can be targeted and how quickly the enemy headquarters can be pressured. Players can build aggressive decks around fast attacks, defensive decks that protect the Support Line, or strategies centered on aircraft, artillery, and resource efficiency. Ranked play provides progression from Private toward Field Marshal, while regular play, missions, and achievements provide additional cards and rewards for expanding future deck options.
