Selling balut at night puts Niko in the middle of a dangerous situation in Hapunan. The story begins with his ordinary work in the barangay, where he walks through the streets offering balut and chicharon to residents. After customers question whether he has permission to sell, Niko is sent to obtain a business permit. This simple task leads him toward the Barangay Captain and gradually reveals connections to murders, corruption, and a violent group known as Pay-to-Kill.

Selling Food and Exploring the Barangay

The game is played from a first-person perspective. Niko explores his home, streets, houses, and public buildings while speaking with residents and completing objectives. Early sections involve preparing to leave the house, walking to the main barangay, calling out to customers, and selling food. Later tasks place more emphasis on investigation as Niko learns why other vendors disappeared and why several people warn him about working at night.

Tasks, Items, and Investigation

Progress is divided into story sections and nights rather than traditional numbered levels. Objectives change as the plot develops, and the player must explore locations, interact with characters, and collect or use items needed for the current task.

The main activities include:

·         walking through the barangay and nearby areas;

·         selling balut and chicharon to customers;

·         talking to residents for information;

·         obtaining the required business permit;

·         carrying packages and completing errands;

·         examining suspicious locations;

·         using inventory items when needed;

·         making decisions during dangerous situations.

Danger Behind the Permit

After meeting the Barangay Captain, Niko becomes involved in events connected to previous killings in Sakdudol. What first seems like a normal administrative visit exposes information about Pay-to-Kill and the people connected to it. The investigation places Niko and his family at risk, and later sections introduce more direct danger instead of simply walking and talking.

Hapunan combines exploration, story decisions, simple tasks, and survival sequences. There is no large open world or separate stage-selection system; the player follows Niko through a continuous narrative. Advancing means completing each objective, listening to conversations, investigating suspicious events, and reacting correctly when the story becomes dangerous. The final part focuses on confronting the threat surrounding Niko’s family and discovering the truth behind the Barangay Captain and his associates.
