Mushroom Oasis is a slow-burn yandere visual novel about searching for a missing cat in a quiet forest. The protagonist follows the cat’s trail deeper into the woods than expected and eventually encounters a strange man named Mychael, who offers help after finding them in trouble. What begins as a simple search gradually becomes more unsettling as the player learns more about Mychael, the forest, and why returning home may not be as easy as it first appeared.

Three Days Build the Current Story

The available version currently contains Days 1 through 3. Most gameplay consists of reading dialogue, examining situations, and choosing responses during conversations. These decisions can change how scenes develop and may lead to different endings. The game currently includes four bad endings and one neutral ending connected to story progression. Rather than using combat or exploration mechanics, Mushroom Oasis focuses on character interaction, atmosphere, and the gradual change in the relationship between the protagonist and Mychael.

The game includes:

  • dialogue choices that influence scenes;
  • multiple possible endings;
  • original character artwork and backgrounds;
  • darker psychological and yandere themes;
  • minor jumpscares and screen effects;
  • themes involving manipulation, kidnapping, and danger;
  • several supporting characters alongside Mychael;
  • a story divided into separate days.

Mychael Is the Center of the Mystery

Mychael appears helpful and attentive when the protagonist first meets him, but his behavior gradually raises questions about his intentions. He lives alone in the forest and becomes the main person the protagonist interacts with while trying to understand what is happening. The visual novel deliberately combines calm domestic moments with growing suspicion, making conversations important because seemingly ordinary exchanges can reveal more about Mychael’s personality and the situation surrounding the protagonist.

Choices Can Lead to Early Endings

Mushroom Oasis does not use levels, statistics, inventory management, or character upgrades. Progress is entirely narrative. The player moves from scene to scene, selects responses, and continues through each day until reaching either the next part of the story or an ending caused by previous decisions. Because several bad endings are already available, replaying sections can reveal alternative dialogue and consequences.

The game is still in development, so the current story is incomplete. The developer has stated that Day 4 is being worked on, while the final project is planned to contain more days and multiple endings. For now, the main objective is to follow the available story, learn more about Mychael and the forest, make choices carefully, and explore the different outcomes already included in the current build.
