A burned-out RV leaves the player with almost nothing at the start of Schedule I. After arriving in Hyland Point, the goal is to rebuild a criminal business from the ground up while dealing with the Benzies, a rival organization that controls parts of the city. The story develops through contacts, phone calls, customers, and confrontations, but much of the progression is driven by how the player chooses to expand the operation.

Starting a Business

Early gameplay focuses on obtaining products, finding customers, and making sales directly. The player can grow cannabis, manufacture other substances, package products, and create mixtures with different effects and values. Earnings are spent on equipment, supplies, vehicles, and larger properties. Police patrol Hyland Point and can search, chase, or arrest the player when illegal activity is discovered, making timing and route planning important.

Expanding the Operation

As the business grows, handling every sale personally becomes inefficient. New dealers can be recruited and assigned customers, while employees can help with production and other tasks. Properties provide additional space for equipment, storage, and workers.

The main activities include:

·         growing and preparing different products;

·         mixing products to create new effects and values;

·         meeting customers and completing sales;

·         hiring dealers and assigning customers to them;

·         buying properties and production equipment;

·         laundering money through businesses;

·         avoiding police searches and wanted situations.

Hyland Point and Progression

Hyland Point is divided into different neighborhoods containing customers, shops, dealers, suppliers, properties, and businesses. Progress is tied to reputation and rank rather than traditional numbered levels. Increasing rank unlocks additional products, equipment, contacts, and opportunities, while expanding into new areas introduces more customers and dealers.

Later gameplay becomes more focused on organization. Instead of personally managing every small transaction, the player can build a network of dealers, employees, properties, and businesses while continuing to produce goods and respond to threats. The Benzies can interfere with expansion through attacks and territorial pressure, while police remain a constant risk during illegal activities. Schedule I combines first-person exploration, production, management, sales, and open-ended progression, allowing the operation to grow from individual street deals into a larger network spread across Hyland Point.
