A new school gives Nicole another group of classmates, teachers, and authority figures to deal with in Class of ’09. The story follows her through high school during the late 2000s as she meets Jecka, Jeffery, Kylar, Crispin, and other students. Nicole is cynical and frequently manipulates the people around her, while her decisions can turn ordinary school situations into arguments, relationships, disciplinary problems, or much more serious events.
Choices Shape the Story
The game works as a visual novel, but dialogue advances automatically until the player reaches an important decision. Instead of exploring maps or completing action stages, players choose how Nicole reacts to conversations and situations. A single decision can redirect the story into a different sequence of scenes, changing who Nicole spends time with and what problems she becomes involved in.
School Life and Characters
Much of the story takes place around classes, hallways, homes, parties, and other locations connected to Nicole’s life. Her friendship with Jecka remains important across many routes, while interactions with classmates and school staff can develop very differently depending on previous decisions.
The main gameplay involves:
· reading conversations as they automatically progress;
· choosing between different responses and actions;
· interacting with classmates and teachers;
· following separate story branches;
· seeing consequences created by earlier decisions;
· reaching different endings;
· replaying routes to unlock scenes and additional information.
Fifteen Different Endings
Class of ’09 contains 15 endings rather than one fixed conclusion. Some routes focus on Nicole’s relationships with specific students, while others involve school conflicts, disciplinary situations, crime, or events that change the lives of several characters. Reaching an ending returns the focus to trying another set of choices and discovering a different branch of the story.
There are no traditional levels, combat systems, inventories, or character upgrades. Progress comes entirely from making decisions and uncovering new routes. Completing more endings also reveals additional scenes and lore, so replaying the story is a central part of the experience. Different choices can change relationships, conversations, and major events, allowing the same starting situation to lead to very different outcomes.
