I Am Cat is a sandbox adventure where the player takes the role of a cat living in Granny’s house and explores the environment from a feline perspective. There is no traditional story campaign with long conversations or a fixed sequence of dramatic events. Instead, the game is structured around exploration, quests, puzzles, and interactions with Granny. The cat can behave peacefully, complete assigned tasks, or create problems by stealing objects, scratching furniture, breaking household items, and entering places where it is not supposed to go.
Exploring Granny’s House
The environment works as an interactive playground filled with objects that react to the player. The cat can run, jump, climb, throw items, cook, steal food, and investigate rooms for secrets. Granny reacts to what happens around her, so causing too much trouble can result in her chasing the cat. Progress eventually expands beyond the main house into additional locations such as the garage, street, butcher shop, and mill, each providing new tasks and spaces to explore.
Quests and Cat Activities
Instead of traditional numbered levels, I Am Cat uses missions and environmental objectives to guide progression. Typical activities include:
· knocking books and other objects from shelves;
· breaking or moving household items;
· finding hidden objects and secret areas;
· solving simple environmental puzzles;
· catching mice;
· playing football and basketball;
· interacting with Granny;
· completing tasks that unlock further content.
Many objects use physics, so even actions that are not connected to a mission can create different results depending on where and how they are moved.
Progression and How to Play
Completing quests provides rewards and gradually opens more activities and areas. The game also contains mini-games and optional challenges, so progression is not limited to following one strict route. Some objectives require careful exploration, while others depend on climbing, manipulating objects, or discovering how a particular part of the environment works.
Playing effectively means thinking from the cat’s point of view. Tables, shelves, furniture, boxes, and narrow spaces can become routes through the environment rather than simple decorations. Players can experiment freely, return to unfinished tasks, search for hidden areas, or spend time creating chaos without immediately advancing the main objectives. I Am Cat therefore combines structured missions with open sandbox exploration, letting the player decide whether to concentrate on completing quests, discovering secrets, interacting with Granny, or simply testing what can be moved, broken, climbed, or stolen.
